Your culinary and wine specialist will whisk you away to one of the most beautiful locations on the planet – Malibu — on this wine tour. You’ll discover how the AVA (American Viticultural Association) identified this coastal town known for surfers and movie stars thanks to its rich volcanic soil and calm ocean air. There are now 50 boutique wineries in the area, and we’ll explore three of the finest.
A flight of wine will be served in an award-winning Rosenthal tasting room on the Pacific Coast Highway. Rosenthal was one of the earliest wineries in the region, specializing in Cabernet Sauvignon.
Cielo, a $35 million private estate and winery, awaits us as we continue north on the canyon roads. Cielo is surrounded by 18 acres of vineyards and sits above the Santa Monica Mountains. We’ll start with a guided tour of the property’s picturesque overlook, followed by a private tasting of estate wines matched with a gourmet variety of meats, cheeses, pickled vegetables, handmade crostini, and fresh bread. Get to know the wine, region, and area’s history as you eat.
The Cornell tasting room is our last stop. Cornell transports you back to the days of the Old West, complete with peacocks wandering the grounds. Cornell, located next to the town’s historic post office, sells wines from all of the town’s vineyards and a few lesser-known Central Coast varieties.
We’ll return via one of Mulholland Highway’s most picturesque sections after our tasting. Enjoy the scenery as you make your way back to your hotel or other destination of choice in our luxurious car. In only six hours, you’ve sampled the best of the Malibu Coastal Region and the West Coast’s most outstanding wines.
